It’s that time of year to treat the motherly figures in our lives! Let’s cater to our motherly readers out there and indulge on these bookish gifts for mother’s day.
1 – Ereader Tablet
Wait! I hope I didn’t lose you! I know it’s a completely over suggested gift.
“Oh Tabitha. An ereader? Not original.” I know the words are sitting on the edge of your tongue waiting to be said.
I almost didn’t list this, but here’s why I changed my mind:
I thought about my grandmothers, my mom, my sister (who is new-ish to the mom community) and the current time we’re living in. I’ve spent a lot of time face-timing with my sister and nephews because it’s in the best interest of all parties to not visit in person.
If my grandmothers were still alive, I know we’d be talking a massive amount during this quarantine through facetime.
Books are my friends at any time in my life, but having the ability to facetime with my family and friends has definitely been a saving grace during isolation.
Not only are ereader tablets great for holding thousands of books, streaming TV shows and movies, but they’re great for connecting with our loved ones in this social distancing environment.
2 – NY Times Custom Birthday Book
A few years ago, I found an index card at a gas station that just so happened to have my grandmother’s birth year on it. It gave a handful of facts: the current president, how much a loaf of bread was, the hit song of the year, along with a couple other treats. She got so much joy out of the card, I really wanted to share that.
I couldn’t find the card, but I did find this book! It’s filled with NY Times front pages over a period of time you choose. Perhaps you’d like to see all the front pages from your mom’s birthday? Or all the front pages from your birthday?
This is a fun gift, and is definitely a unique reading experience.
3 – Journals
The notebooks are always filling up in my family. And while we all have our preferred notebooks, it’s special to receive something that’s, well… special!

4 – Literary Themed Throw Pillows and Blankets
My mom is a sucker for these. It’s such a great and easy gift. While not all moms may be into decorative pillows, who doesn’t love a couch blanket while you’re reading?
(Also, yes my mom will probably see this post. And yes, she’ll laugh and agree.)

Bookends are a budget-friendly and thoughtful way to help mom keep that aesthetic she’s going for on the bookshelf.

Puzzles are always great fun, even more so when the picture is personal. Maybe a favorite family portrait, or the awesome trend of adults re-shooting childhood photos.
You can also choose how many pieces. Personally, I’d opt for the 2000 piece, but it goes as low as 15 pieces.
