leaning towards scrivener and a patreon relaunch

I went back and forth about scrivener for the longest time.  Just, one of those programs that falls into the “too good to be true” category.  I’m a meticulous person, I have folders and sub folders and sub sub folders set up to lay out the inner workings of a novel.  But each chapter or scene remains a separate document.  So if I want to look over a whole chapter and check the flow and piece it together, this may require opening several documents in one shot and go through them.

Scrivener allows me to be meticulous.  In one file, I can have as many folders and sub something or anothers as I damn well please.  It’s gorgeous.

I recently got back into it, they have a 30 day free trial, so playing around with it for a month to figure out if it’s for you or not was really helpful.  I spent a couple of days just trying to figure out navigation let alone save anything and trying to write to the program.

I recommend checking it out if you haven’t.

Also – very important.

Like – extremely important.

I’ve relaunched my Patreon page.  I’m excited.  It’s going to be great.  When I launched it before, I felt weird doing it.  It felt rushed and impulsive and I probably didn’t think it through all the way.

I’ve updated the rewards and taught myself a lot to manage it better while it was deactivated.

Please check it out.  Please share it.

  1. Congrats on the relaunch. I’m struggling with deciding to purchase Scrivener too. I worry about exporting and formatting for self publishing. Maybe when it goes on sale good, I’ll get it, though your post is pushing me to just bite the bullet. Thanks!

    • I haven’t tried the exporting tool yet. But, just the use of everything else is pretty helpful in a fantastic kind of way. It’s $45 right now. And I think they have some student discounts, if applicable of course. I’ve debated for about two years. They constantly upkeep the software and listen to user feedbacks and update accordingly. It’s so in tune with how I organize and write at this time, it’s just made my life easier. Thank you for the congratulations. It’s been a challenge!!

      • I downloaded the demo and started playing around with it. Thanks for the encouragement. I can get it for $30 with a coupon code… I may just bite the bullet, even if I don’t use it. (But I think, at the very least, it’ll be great for organizing research and outlines.)
