A good snapshot keeps a moment that’s gone from running away.

Ultra Wide Angle Lens
Are you like me and want absolutely everything in the shot to a crazy extent? Then I recommend the gorgeous 11-24mm, f/4.0 (my dream lens!). I had the really cool opportunity to use this lens at Canon HQ a few years ago. It was fascinating learning about how they spent years engineering this wide angle lens to be wide angle, but avoid the distortion you get in a fisheye lens.
Very cool stuff!
This amazing lens does come with a price tag, however. It currently sits around $3k.
Wide Angle Lens
Okay, so maybe you don’t need to go THAT wide, but you’re still looking for a strictly wide angle lens that works well in low light situations and gets all of that juicy landscape in the photo. Totally understandable.
I recommend the 16-35mm, 2.8. Fabulous for low light/astrophotography needs, provides rad portraits in the outside space, and is a wonder indoors if that is something that creeps into your portfolio from time to time.
This is the next lens that I will be adding to my camera bag!
wide Angle Lens With Some Zoom
The 24-70mm is a wide angle lens, but has a little bit of zoom to it. The 70mm zoom is lovely, and still has wide angle features about it. With a 2.8 aperture, you’re still getting those amazing low-light capabilities and close-ups for some portraits, but still enough frame to let a lot of details in.
I have this lens and I do love it. It’s a great lens and has served me well in many situations. However, I more often wish I had the 16-35mm, especially now that I’ve upgraded my zoom lens to a 70-200mm. I think the reason for this difference is because of how much more I’d love to fit into my frame because of travel photography. Those low-angle, wide shots, tight spaces, etc. are my favorite. My own personal shooting preferences always lead more to more wide angle.
