happy anniversary blog

The Anniversary

Two years ago (and a couple of days now), I sat on an orange couch in Chandler, Arizona and decided to start a website/blog. For whatever reason. Since then, I have posted 42 times. Which is such a laugh, if you think about it. That out of 730 days, I only posted on 42 of them. That’s 5%, I think? Again, laughable I say! So – ‘happy’ anniversary to me!

Sometimes, it absolutely is because of laziness. Hands down. I admit it freely. But it also comes down to insecurity. How could I possibly have anything unique to offer? How can my writing be interesting enough to anyone out there? Maybe I’d have a better answer if I posted more.

The remaining percentage of blame goes to poor time management. As time goes on, I’m getting better about it.

The Terrible Two’s

Now that my site is technically two, I’m about to push the envelope. I’m going to write all of the things I want to write, with no care to my insecurities. Because fuck ’em. I just don’t have the time or patience to deal with them anymore.

They are still there, however. Festering. They’ll find another way to show their ugly faces and upset me, but for now, I’m just far too busy.

I have been taking a more thorough interest in my site. Updating it here and there in certain ways. Be prepared, there may be a proper theme update. But I’ll give some heads up when that happens instead of just changing stuff on a whim at 3AM because I can’t sleep and have nothing else to do.

So on this anniversary, I’d like to reintroduce myself and my site.

I’m Tabitha! I’m an aspiring photographer and traveling writer. I share my growing photography skills on my instagram account. Please visit my About page for a little more information.

There is a portfolio of my work created. It’s currently small and does not contain any photos from my recent travels to Asia. I also believe that I’m still in the middle of compressing the photo files so it loads faster for anyone who visits it. Right now – it’s not the best thing – but it will be the first thing to get a massive overhaul.

As I’ve learned recently, smaller photo files make happier visitors to any site, and the quality is not compromised in such a horrific way.

The Goal for Year Three

Because of the aforementioned, I have a clearer vision. I will be posting weekly.

Yes, weekly.

Seriously, weekly. As in once every seven days. I swear I understand the concept of weekly, I really do.

As a result of my Year of Learning, an important lesson is it’s not just about what I’m throwing up here, it’s also about what you want to see. I started polling my followers on instagram a lot, and saw some valuable and helpful information from it. It was mostly regarding wallpapers for phones and if anyone was interested in a print shop. As it turns out, quite a few people are interested in both of those things. Therefore, as my site starts to grow, I will be polling more on here as well.

I am going to launch a print shop on my web site, I will want to know what you think. I’ll want to know that it’s working well and the lab providing service is doing a good job.

When it comes to the print shop, I researched a green lab and they provide prints on plant-based materials. Their lab uses 100% recycled paper for in-house operations and it’s powered by 17,000 square feet of solar panels. They dedicate their time to a lot of amazing charities and do their best to continue greener practices and contribute more to the community.

The End Goal

I think weekly posts and launching a print shop aren’t over elaborate sounding, but I think that’s a lot to try and accomplish in a year. My goal is to post more this year than I have in the last two years combined and to generate a small income from my site.

I am not going to overwhelm myself with huge goals for my site and screw it up by ‘accomplishing’ each goal haphazardly.

If anyone out there reading this has a site, what are the goals you’ve set for this year? How are you challenging yourself?

On a side note: I am looking for book recommendations. Let me know your favorites and why.

    • Thanks for the recommendations! I haven’t read Sapiens yet. I always hear amazing things but haven’t opened the cover yet.

  1. giiiirrrllllll, I applaud you! I wish I could commit to posting weekly on my blog! I’ll have to get much more creative about my writing… or figuring out how not to be so overwhelmed I feel no creativity flowing through my bones at all.
I’m digging the printer thing too. great that you found one so environmentally conscious! and your photos are amazing!!

    • There are days where I’m rather certain I do not have anything interesting to share, but I’m still going to go for it.

I was really excited about finding the printer. I’m trying to be more conscious of my decisions and how globally impactful they can be.
